Hamlet House Photographs

These evocative photographs are believed to be the Mallow family who lived at Hamlet House in Pond Street. This is the large house that stands back and is the first house as you go down the road to Pond Street from the main B1039 Saffron Walden to Royston road.  I think it has been known by various names including Pond Street Farm. I am not sure what it is named currently.

The images were taken from a collection of glass slides that we have in the Archive – you can see a piece about how I obtained the images on the blog here.  I was so impressed at the quality of the images which we think, from the style of dress, were perhaps taken in the 1930s?  Do let us know what you think.

Amazingly when I made these photographs available I realised that we already had some prints from this collection in the Archive and I had made them available on the website to see if anyone knew who they were.  You can see them, now mostly claimed, on this page here.
