This lovely photo looking north along Hogs Lane (Brick Row is on the left and The Red Cow is hidden behind the hedge on the right) appears to be of a group of villagers dressed as itinerant tradesmen. Could they be on their way to a village fancy dress event?
The photo appears to have been professionally taken for the children are carefully posed. It was given to Bruce by George Harvey and the man far left is believed to be Tim Harvey. Depicted are an umbrella repairer, the scissor or knife grinder, possibly a corn dolly maker and a saucepan repairer. It probably dates from the early 1920s.
