Heydon

The next village to Chrishall, and within easy walking distance, is Heydon. An equally ancient village with a fascinating history. When working on local history it is impossible to separate the villages that were shared by the local communities so we are delighted to be able to include some Heydon history here.

Heydon Church and Rev John Horseman

One of the vicars of Heydon was the Rev John Horseman. Rev Horseman came to Heydon where he married and settled on 10th October 1810. It seems that he was well loved in his parish and beyond. He would walk to Cambridge with a book in hand to read and a bag over his shoulder…

The Old Post Office “Heydon” – probably c 1960. The far right hand door is now just a small window and the right hand one of the pair has been bricked up – it is virtually impossible to see it was ever there. Otherwise the building, although no longer a shop, looks very much like this today.
