This photograph shows the cottages that used to stand to the left of the chapel. The photograph is taken from Wire Farm meadow in front of Faerie Cottage (and I believe thanks are due to the Rogers family for this lovely photograph).
In the close up below you can clearly see the little chap standing outside the chapel gates. The wooden fence looks to be on the meadow side of Rooks Pond in front so presumably the pond did not have any protective railings on the road side at that time.
