The photograph above was taken around 1970. You can see the more modern house of Whitebeams just to the right of Pheonix cottage. The black barn in front has long gone and now the cottage is next to the Engleric estate of five houses.
Above this photograph is from the 1930s. The cottage appears to be newly thatched and is looking very smart. In the close up below you can see the upturned horseshoe above what is presumably the front door. The open window on the right is the end of the house that is facing Crawley End.
